What This Product Is

This product is whole beef liver, gently dried and encapsulated. The desiccation process removes water while preserving the natural nutrient content of the source food. One single ingredient inside the capsule — nothing added, nothing extracted.

Beef liver is a traditional food eaten widely in many cuisines (pâté, liver and onions, casseroles, traditional offal dishes). The capsule format is a convenient alternative for people who want the nutritional profile of beef liver in their diet without the strong flavour or preparation effort of whole liver.

3g of dried liver (one 5-capsule serving) is approximately equivalent to 28g of fresh beef liver — about the size of a small piece of liver.

Nutrient Profile (Per 5-Capsule Serving)

Beef liver is a naturally nutrient-dense food. Each 5-capsule serving (3g desiccated liver) provides the following nutrients at percentages of the Australian Nutrient Reference Value (NRV):

Nutrient Amount % NRV
Vitamin B12 14 mcg 583%
Copper 2.7 mg 300%
Vitamin A ~1,327 mcg RAE 166%
Riboflavin (B2) 0.8 mg 62%
Pantothenic Acid (B5) 2.0 mg 40%
Niacin (B3) 3.7 mg 23%
Folate 81.2 mcg 20%
Vitamin B6 0.3 mg 18%
Heme Iron 2.2 mg 12%
Choline 120 mg
Zinc 0.3 mg 2%

Why Dried Liver, Why Capsules

Why dried: Desiccation (drying) removes water content while preserving the natural nutrient profile of beef liver. The dried product is shelf-stable, doesn’t require refrigeration, and is concentrated — 3g of dried liver provides the nutrient content of approximately 28g of fresh liver.

Why capsules: Beef liver has a strong flavour that many people find off-putting, and preparing fresh liver requires sourcing and cooking it. Capsules deliver the food in a convenient, tasteless, odourless format. This is a delivery convenience — the contents are still just dried beef liver.

Un-defatted matters: Some beef liver supplements are defatted during processing. Defatting removes the fat content, which also removes the fat-soluble vitamins (Vitamin A, Vitamin K2). This product is un-defatted, preserving the natural fat content and the fat-soluble vitamins that come with it.

Directions for Use

Take 5 capsules per day as a daily serving, ideally with a meal containing some fat (the fat-soluble vitamins absorb better when consumed with dietary fat).

To start: Some people prefer to start with 2–3 capsules per day for the first week and build up to the full 5-capsule serving. This allows time to assess individual tolerance.

Refer to the product label for full guidance. Do not exceed the recommended daily intake.

Good to Know

Why beef liver?

Beef liver is one of the most nutrient-dense foods in the traditional human diet. It naturally contains higher concentrations of several essential vitamins and minerals than muscle meat. In many traditional cuisines worldwide, liver and other organ meats were valued food sources before modern dietary patterns shifted predominantly to muscle meats.

Why do the capsules sometimes vary slightly in colour or smell?

Because this is a whole food with a single ingredient, slight variations between batches in colour or aroma are normal. Beef liver from different batches may have minor variations reflecting the natural source. The capsule shell itself is odourless; any faint smell is from the dried liver inside.

Is it tasteless?

The intact capsule is tasteless — the gelatin shell prevents direct contact with the contents. The dried liver inside has a strong flavour that you might notice if a capsule is broken open, but swallowed whole, you should not taste it.

What does "grass-finished" mean?

"Grass-fed" means cattle were raised on pasture. "Grass-finished" means cattle continued on pasture through the entire growing process, rather than being moved to grain feeding at the end of their lifecycle. Note: in pasture-based farming systems, supplementary forage (such as hay, silage, or fodder beet) may be used during seasonal feed shortages (winter or dry summers) when pasture growth is limited. This is normal practice in grass-fed/grass-finished operations.

What does "un-defatted" mean and why does it matter?

Some beef liver supplements are defatted (the fat is removed during processing). Defatting also removes fat-soluble vitamins, including Vitamin A. This product is un-defatted, retaining the natural fat content and the naturally-occurring fat-soluble vitamins. If a beef liver capsule claims to contain 0% fat and Vitamin A, that combination is chemically inconsistent because Vitamin A is a fat-soluble vitamin.

Is it suitable for vegetarians or vegans?

No. This is an animal-derived food product (beef liver in a gelatin capsule). For vegetarian/vegan B12 sources, consider other products.

What about Vitamin A intake?

Beef liver is naturally high in preformed Vitamin A (retinol). One serving of this product (5 capsules) provides approximately 1,327 mcg RAE of Vitamin A — 166% of the Australian Nutrient Reference Value. If you regularly consume other foods rich in preformed Vitamin A (such as fresh liver, cod liver oil) or take other Vitamin A supplements, factor this product into your total daily Vitamin A intake. Stay within the Australian Upper Level of Intake (3,000 mcg/day for adults).
