C8 + C10 MCT Oil from Coconut · 946mL Bottle

Bulletproof™ MCT Oil — 946mL

A solvent-free MCT oil containing C8 (caprylic acid) and C10 (capric acid) only — no lauric acid (C12) and no longer-chain fats. Flavourless, ketogenic-friendly, and more economical than pure-C8 formats.

946mL bottle · ~63 servings (1 tablespoon each) · No lauric acid, no fillers.

Key Points

  • C8 + C10 blend — caprylic and capric acid medium-chain triglycerides, no lauric acid
  • Made from coconut oil — fractionated to isolate the shorter medium-chain fatty acids
  • More economical than pure C8 — broader MCT profile at a lower per-mL price than the Brain Octane C8-only product
  • Flavourless — blends into hot and cold drinks, dressings, and cooking without altering taste
  • Ketogenic-friendly — suits low-carb and ketogenic dietary patterns; pure fat, zero carbohydrate
  • Solvent-free processing — no chemical extraction agents used

What It Is

Bulletproof MCT Oil is a medium-chain triglyceride oil containing C8 (caprylic acid) and C10 (capric acid) only. These are the two shortest medium-chain fatty acids found in coconut oil, separated out from the rest through fractional distillation.

It differs from the Brain Octane C8 oil in that it includes C10 alongside C8. Some MCT products marketed as "MCT oil" also include lauric acid (C12) — this one does not.

If you want the most concentrated form of the shortest MCT (C8), choose Brain Octane. If you want an MCT oil at a lower per-mL cost that still excludes lauric acid, this is a good choice. Same recipes, same use cases — slightly different composition.

Sourcing & Processing

Source: Coconut oil.

Processing: The C8 and C10 fractions are separated from the rest of the coconut oil through fractional distillation (heat + pressure differentials). No chemical solvents used.

What’s left out: Lauric acid (C12), longer-chain saturated fats, and non-triglyceride components.

How to Use

Same use cases as Brain Octane — the flavourless profile blends into a wide range of foods and drinks:

  • In coffee — as the MCT oil component of the Bulletproof Coffee recipe
  • In smoothies — add 1 tablespoon per serve
  • In salad dressings — substitutes for other oils
  • Drizzled on food — over steamed vegetables, soups, or fatty meats after cooking
  • Cold uses — suitable for cold or lukewarm dishes; not recommended for high-heat frying

Start small. If you’re new to MCT oil, begin with 1 teaspoon (5mL) per day and increase gradually. Taking too much too quickly is a common cause of digestive discomfort.

The Bulletproof Coffee Recipe

"Bulletproof Coffee" combines brewed coffee with grass-fed butter (or ghee) and MCT oil, blended to a creamy consistency. This MCT Oil works exactly the same way as Brain Octane in the recipe.

Bulletproof Coffee Preparation

  1. Brew 2 cups of Bulletproof coffee using the method of your choice
  2. Combine with 2 tablespoons of unsalted grass-fed butter (or grass-fed ghee for a dairy-free option)
  3. Add 2 tablespoons of Bulletproof MCT Oil (this product)
  4. Blend in a high-speed blender (or use an Aerolatte® frother) until a creamy head of foam forms
  5. Pour and drink while hot

Good to Know

Should I get this or Brain Octane?

This MCT Oil is a C8+C10 blend at a lower per-mL cost. Brain Octane is 100% C8 — more concentrated per tablespoon and priced higher. If you want the shortest, most concentrated MCT profile, go with Brain Octane. If you use MCT oil in larger volumes and want to stretch the budget without dropping down to a lauric-acid-inclusive product, this is a good middle option.

How is this different from coconut oil?

Coconut oil is roughly 62% medium-chain triglycerides mixed with longer-chain fats and lauric acid. This MCT oil isolates only the C8 and C10 fractions. It’s liquid at room temperature and flavourless, whereas coconut oil is solid below ~24°C and tastes distinctly of coconut.

Why exclude lauric acid?

Lauric acid is technically classified as a medium-chain fatty acid (C12) but behaves more like a longer-chain fat in digestion. Some MCT products marketed on the strength of "coconut MCT" are largely lauric acid, which changes both the digestion profile and the concentration of the shorter MCTs. This product excludes lauric acid so what you get in each tablespoon is C8 and C10 only.

Which size should I get?

This 946mL bottle suits regular users. The smaller 473mL bottle is a starter size at a lower total cost, useful if you’re trying out MCT oil for the first time or want to compare it to Brain Octane before committing to a larger bottle.
