Synbiotic Capsules  ·  5 HMOs + 10 Probiotic Strains

Layer Origin SuperHMO® Synbiotic Capsules

A capsule supplement combining 5 different human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs) with 10 strains of probiotic bacteria and resistant starch. A “synbiotic” formulation — meaning it contains both prebiotic and probiotic ingredients together.

2,000 mg HMOs · 40 Billion CFU total probiotics · Shelf-stable.

What is a Synbiotic?

A synbiotic is a food supplement that combines two ingredient categories:

  • Probiotics — live microorganisms (in this product, 10 strains of Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus bacteria)
  • Prebiotics — substances that the human body doesn’t digest, but that can be consumed by certain gut bacteria (in this product, 5 different human milk oligosaccharides plus resistant starch)

Compared to taking separate probiotic and prebiotic products, a synbiotic delivers both ingredient categories in a single capsule serving.

The 5 HMOs in This Formula

Human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs) are complex sugar molecules naturally found in human breast milk. Over 200 different HMO types have been identified by researchers. This product contains five:

Abbreviation Full Name Category
2′-FL 2′-Fucosyllactose Fucosylated (neutral)
LNnT Lacto-N-neotetraose Non-sialylated (neutral)
LNT Lacto-N-tetraose Non-sialylated (neutral)
3′-SL 3′-Sialyllactose Sialylated (acidic)
6′-SL 6′-Sialyllactose Sialylated (acidic)

Total HMO content: 2,000 mg per serve. Each HMO is produced through precision fermentation from dairy lactose, resulting in compounds chemically identical (bio-identical) to those naturally present in human milk.

The formula also includes resistant starch, another category of prebiotic fibre that passes through the small intestine undigested.

The 10 Probiotic Strains

This product contains 10 strains of probiotic bacteria across two well-characterised genera: Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus. Total CFU (colony-forming units) per serving is 40 Billion, split as follows:

Genus Strains CFU per Serve
Bifidobacterium B. bifidum, B. lactis, B. longum 10 Billion
Lactobacillus L. acidophilus, L. casei, L. gasseri, L. paracasei, L. plantarum, L. reuteri, L. rhamnosus 30 Billion

Total: 40 Billion CFU across 10 strains. Refer to the bottle label for exact CFU breakdown per individual strain.

Directions for Use

Take as directed on the bottle label.

Do not take with hot beverages. Heat damages live probiotic bacteria. If adding to coffee or tea, allow the beverage to cool to below 42°C (108°F) before mixing in the capsule contents.

Refer to the bottle label for full directions. Do not exceed the recommended daily intake.

Good to Know

Does this product contain actual human milk?

No. The HMOs in this product are produced through precision fermentation from dairy lactose. They are chemically identical to the HMOs naturally found in human milk, but no human milk is used in production. The product name “SuperHMO®” refers to the chemical category of the ingredients, not the source.

Is this product suitable for infants or children?

No. This product is formulated as an adult food supplement. It is not intended for use in infants, toddlers, or children. While certain HMOs (2′-FL and LNnT) are approved as ingredients in infant formula in Australia under specific FSANZ regulations, the formulation, dose, presentation, and other ingredients of this adult product are entirely different. Do not give this product to infants or children.

Does this product require refrigeration?

No. The probiotic strains in this product are shelf-stable at room temperature. You can choose to refrigerate the product for extended shelf life, but it’s not required.

Can I add this to hot coffee or tea?

Not when the beverage is hot. Heat damages live probiotic bacteria. If you want to add the capsule contents to coffee or tea, wait until the beverage has cooled to below 42°C (108°F).

What does “CFU” mean?

CFU stands for “colony-forming units” — the standard measure of viable bacteria in a probiotic product. 40 Billion CFU means there are approximately 40 billion live bacterial cells per serving capable of forming colonies if cultured.

Is this product vegan?

No — the HMOs are produced through fermentation from dairy lactose, so the source is dairy-derived. The fermentation process means the final product contains no intact dairy proteins or significant amounts of lactose, but it is not classified as vegan.
