Primeadine® by Oxford Healthspan

A capsule supplement standardised to spermidine — a polyamine compound naturally present in many foods. Available in two formulations: Original (concentrated wheat germ extract) and Gluten-Free (whole-food blend).

Original: 90 capsules per bottle · 1 mg standardised spermidine per 3-capsule serve.
Gluten-Free: 1.2 mg plant-derived spermidine per 2-capsule serve.

About Spermidine

Spermidine is a polyamine — a small organic compound made up of carbon, hydrogen, and nitrogen. It’s naturally present in many foods, including:

  • Wheat germ (one of the richest natural sources)
  • Aged cheeses (particularly blue cheese)
  • Mushrooms
  • Soybeans and dried soy products
  • Legumes (including green peas)
  • Some shellfish
  • Various meats

Spermidine is also produced naturally by the body and by certain bacteria in the gut. The combination of dietary intake and internal production contributes to the body’s overall polyamine content.

Two Formulations Available

Primeadine Original

A capsule supplement made from concentrated wheat germ extract. The extract is defatted (to prevent the natural oils in wheat germ from going rancid) and standardised to provide 1 mg of spermidine per 3-capsule serving.

Ingredients:

  • Concentrated wheat germ extract (contains wheat — gluten)
  • Maltodextrin (acts as a prebiotic fibre / resistant starch)
  • Hypromellose capsule (plant cellulose, vegan)

90 capsules per bottle (30 servings at 3 capsules per serve).

Primeadine GF (Gluten-Free)

A capsule supplement made from a whole-food blend sourced and manufactured in Okinawa, Japan. Provides 1.2 mg of plant-derived spermidine per 2-capsule serving.

Ingredients:

  • Chlorella
  • Shikuwasa (Citrus depressa) skin
  • Turmeric root
  • Hypromellose capsule (plant cellulose, vegan)

In addition to spermidine, the whole-food blend naturally contains trace amounts of putrescine (another polyamine), as well as naturally-occurring small amounts of vitamin D2, vitamin K, folate, vitamin B12, biotin, pantothenic acid, iron, and lutein.

Suitable for vegans and vegetarians. Gluten-free and soy-free.

Good to Know

What is a polyamine?

Polyamines are small organic compounds made up of carbon, hydrogen, and nitrogen, with multiple amine groups (functional groups containing nitrogen). They’re present in all living cells and naturally occur in many foods.

Why is the wheat germ extract defatted?

Wheat germ contains natural oils that can go rancid over time. By removing the oil component (defatting), the extract has better shelf stability and avoids the off-flavours that develop in oxidised wheat germ.

What is the role of maltodextrin?

The Original formula includes a specific type of maltodextrin that functions as a prebiotic fibre and resistant starch — meaning it isn’t digested in the small intestine, but passes to the large intestine where it can be fermented by gut bacteria.

Why does Primeadine GF use Okinawan ingredients?

The Gluten-Free formula sources its whole-food ingredients (chlorella, Shikuwasa citrus skin, turmeric) from Okinawa, Japan. Shikuwasa (Citrus depressa) is a small green citrus fruit native to Okinawa and Taiwan, traditionally used in Okinawan cuisine.

Why the build-up dosing approach?

For the Original wheat germ extract, building up the dose over three days helps the digestive system adjust to the supplemental fibre content (from the maltodextrin component). This is the same principle as gradually introducing any fibre supplement.
