A liposome is a tiny spherical structure formed from phospholipids — the same kind of fat-based molecules that make up the membranes of human cells. In a liposomal supplement, the active ingredients are encapsulated within these phospholipid spheres.
Glutathione is generally poorly absorbed in standard oral supplement formats because the digestive process breaks down the tripeptide structure before it can be utilised. Liposomal formulations of glutathione are designed to protect the molecule during digestion.
