This is Bulletproof Brain Octane C8 MCT oil in softgel form. The oil inside each softgel is the same product as the liquid Brain Octane bottles — 100% pure caprylic acid (C8) medium-chain triglyceride oil made from coconut.

The softgel format is for people who want the C8 MCT profile but don’t want to carry, measure, or add liquid oil to food or drinks. Useful when travelling, at the office, on a plane, or when Bulletproof Coffee isn’t the target and you just want the MCT oil itself.

No added vitamins, no proprietary blends, no fillers you don’t need. The softgel shell is standard gelatin.

Fill (inside the softgel): 100% caprylic acid (C8) medium-chain triglyceride oil from coconut.

Softgel shell: Gelatin, glycerin, purified water.

How to Use

The suggested serving is 2 softgels (2g of C8 MCT), taken with a meal or drink. Softgels can be taken:

With a meal — MCT oil goes down more comfortably with food than on an empty stomach

Start small. If you’re new to MCT oil, begin with 1 softgel per day and increase gradually. Taking too much too quickly is a common cause of digestive discomfort — MCTs are absorbed differently from other fats, and the gut may need time to adapt.

Softgels or liquid oil?

Both contain the same C8 MCT oil. Softgels suit travel, portability, and situations where you don’t want to add liquid to food or drinks. The liquid Brain Octane Oil is more economical per gram and is what you need for the Bulletproof Coffee recipe (2 tablespoons = 30 softgels worth, which isn’t practical to swallow).

Are these vegetarian or vegan?

The softgel shell contains beef gelatin, so these softgels are not vegetarian or vegan. For a vegan-compatible C8 MCT source, use the liquid Brain Octane Oil instead.

Can I take these on a plane?

Yes — softgels are a solid dosage form, so they aren’t subject to the 100mL carry-on liquid limit. This makes them useful for international travel or as an easy backup when you can’t bring an oil bottle.

How does 2g of MCT oil compare to a tablespoon?

One tablespoon of liquid Brain Octane is about 14g of MCT oil. Two softgels give 2g. So the softgel serving is much smaller than a typical Bulletproof Coffee tablespoon. If your goal is the same daily intake as a tablespoon of oil, you’d need to work through more softgels per day — which is one reason softgels are more of a supplemental format rather than the primary way most regular MCT users get their intake.
