How the Tablet Works

When dropped into a glass of still water, the elemental magnesium and natural fruit acids in each tablet undergo an effervescent reaction. The reaction releases molecular hydrogen (H₂) gas, which dissolves into the water. The tablet itself dissolves completely in roughly 1–2 minutes, leaving a freshly hydrogen-infused beverage with no residual sediment.

The chemistry is straightforward: magnesium metal reacts with the food acids to produce magnesium salts (which remain dissolved in the water) and hydrogen gas (which dissolves into the water). The resulting drink contains both dissolved H₂ and a small amount of magnesium derived from the reaction.

Each H2Tab is independently tested to deliver a hydrogen concentration of approximately 12 parts per million (ppm) in 350–500ml of water. As molecular hydrogen is a dissolved gas, the resulting beverage is best consumed immediately after the tablet has fully dissolved — the gas dissipates from the water if left standing.

Ingredients

Elemental Magnesium

The active component of the tablet. When the tablet enters water, the magnesium reacts with the acid blend to produce molecular hydrogen gas (which dissolves into the water) and magnesium salts (which remain in the water).

Natural Acid Blend

A blend of three food-grade acids derived from natural sources:

  • Malic acid — derived from apples
  • Tartaric acid — derived from grapes
  • Adipic acid — derived from sugar beets

Non-GMO Dextrose

A small amount of food-grade dextrose is used as a binder to hold the tablet together before use.

About the Magnesium Content

Each glass prepared with an H2Tab contains a small amount of magnesium derived from the effervescent reaction. The magnesium ends up as magnesium salts (magnesium malate, magnesium tartrate, magnesium adipate) dissolved in the water.

If you take a magnesium supplement as part of your daily routine, the magnesium from H2Tab adds to your total magnesium intake from food and supplements. Refer to the product label for the exact magnesium content per tablet.

Adult magnesium reference values in Australia: 320mg/day (women) and 420mg/day (men) recommended dietary intake. Upper level of intake from supplemental magnesium (not including food sources) is 350mg/day.

Directions for Use

  1. Pour 350–500ml of still drinking water at room temperature into a glass.
  2. Drop in one H2Tab. You’ll see a steady stream of small bubbles as the tablet begins to dissolve.
  3. Wait 1–2 minutes for the tablet to dissolve completely.
  4. Drink immediately — molecular hydrogen is a dissolved gas and dissipates from the water if left standing.

Use plain still water only. Sparkling water, hot water, and flavoured beverages are not suitable. Do not exceed the recommended daily serving.

Good to Know

Why drink the water immediately?

Molecular hydrogen is a dissolved gas, similar in behaviour to the carbonation in sparkling water. It naturally escapes from the water over time, so for the freshest result, drink the glass shortly after the tablet finishes dissolving.

Will it change the taste of the water?

The unflavoured H2Tab is designed to be virtually taste-neutral. Most people notice only a very subtle mineral character from the small amount of magnesium left in the water after the reaction.

Can I use sparkling water or juice?

No — use plain still water only. Sparkling water already contains dissolved gas, hot water disrupts the controlled dissolution, and flavoured beverages may interfere with the effervescent reaction or the hydrogen retention.

How should I store the tablets?

Store sealed at room temperature in a cool, dry place away from moisture. Only break the seal when ready to use, and ensure the cap is closed tightly between uses. Moisture exposure can pre-activate the effervescent reaction.

Is there a flavoured option?

Yes — H2Tab is also available in a raspberry-flavoured version if you prefer a subtle fruit note in your drink.

Is this product suitable for infants or children?
