Bulletproof® Omega Krill Complex

An omega-3 softgel supplement combining oils from Antarctic krill, Norwegian herring roe, and Pacific sardine/anchovy/mackerel. Delivers 885mg EPA + 480mg DHA per 2-softgel serving. Enhanced with GLA, natural astaxanthin, and olive fruit extract.

Lemon-flavoured softgels · Third-party tested for purity · Wild-caught from MSC and Friend of the Sea certified fisheries.

⚠ Allergen Warning: Contains Fish and Crustacean Shellfish

Contains: Fish (anchovy, herring, sardine, mackerel) and crustacean shellfish (Antarctic krill). Not suitable for people with fish or shellfish allergies.

Key Points

  • 1,365mg combined EPA + DHA per serving — among the higher-dose omega-3 products on the market
  • Three-source omega-3 blend — Antarctic krill (phospholipid-bound), Norwegian herring roe (phospholipid-bound), and small wild Pacific fish (triglyceride form)
  • Sustainably sourced — from fisheries certified by the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) or Friend of the Sea
  • Small cold-water fish — sardine, anchovy, mackerel are at lower positions on the marine food chain and accumulate less of the environmental compounds (PCBs, mercury, etc.) that build up in larger long-lived fish species
  • Third-party lab tested for purity and potency
  • Lemon oil from California lemons to minimise fish aftertaste
  • 120 softgels per bottle — 60 servings of 2 softgels

About the Omega-3 in This Product

Each 2-softgel serving provides essential omega-3 fatty acids at levels that comfortably exceed Australian threshold requirements for permitted general level health claims. Under Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) Standard 1.2.7, the following statements apply to the nutrients in this product:

EPA + DHA (1,365mg per serving)

  • EPA and DHA contribute to the normal function of the heart

DHA (480mg per serving)

  • DHA contributes to maintenance of normal brain function
  • DHA contributes to maintenance of normal vision

The statements above are general level health claims permitted by FSANZ Standard 1.2.7 Schedule 4. They are general nutrient-function statements based on established science about the role of these fatty acids in the diet, not specific therapeutic claims about this product. The 250mg-per-day intake threshold for these claims is well within a single serving of this product (which provides 1,365mg EPA+DHA combined and 480mg DHA).

Three Complementary Omega-3 Sources

Most omega-3 supplements use a single source. This product uses three, because the chemical form differs between sources:

Antarctic Krill Oil

EPA and DHA in krill oil are bound to phospholipids (specifically phosphatidylcholine), which is the same molecular form these fatty acids take in human cell membranes. Krill harvesting is regulated by the Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR).

Norwegian Herring Roe Oil (Romega®)

Fish roe (eggs) is naturally rich in phospholipid-bound omega-3s, with a higher DHA-to-EPA ratio than most fish oils. Spring-spawning herring used here are already harvested by certified fisheries, so the roe is a by-product rather than requiring additional fishing effort.

Wild Sardine, Anchovy, and Mackerel Oil

Small short-lived fish from cold Pacific waters. Their position lower on the marine food chain means they accumulate less of the environmental compounds that build up in larger, longer-lived fish. The EPA and DHA from these sources are in the triglyceride form — the standard fish oil form.

Complementary Ingredients

GLA (Gamma-Linolenic Acid) — 70mg from Borage Seed Oil

GLA is an omega-6 fatty acid. Borage seed oil contains the highest natural concentration of GLA among commonly-used plant sources (20-26% of the oil).

Olive Fruit Extract — providing 5mg Hydroxytyrosol

Hydroxytyrosol is a polyphenol naturally present in olives and olive oil. Used in this formula in part to help protect the omega-3 oils from oxidation during shelf-life.

Natural Astaxanthin — 2mg from Green Algae (Haematococcus pluvialis)

A carotenoid pigment from microalgae. Naturally fat-soluble. In this formula, contributes to oxidative stability of the oils during shelf-life.

Directions for Use

Take 2 softgels with food, twice daily.

Taking omega-3 supplements with a meal containing some fat aids absorption and reduces the likelihood of fish aftertaste.

Refer to the bottle label for full directions. Do not exceed the recommended daily intake.

🌿 Vegan or vegetarian? The Primal Collective Marine Algae Oil is a plant-based DHA/EPA alternative made directly from microalgae — the same source fish accumulate their omega-3s from.

Good to Know

Why is the dose two softgels and not one?

Each softgel can only hold so much oil. To deliver the full 885mg EPA + 480mg DHA in a single dose, two softgels are needed. Some people find it more comfortable to take one with breakfast and one with dinner rather than both together.

What if I get fish aftertaste?

Some people experience fish aftertaste after taking fish or krill oil supplements. This is the oils starting digestion in the stomach. Three things can reduce it: (1) take with a meal containing some fat, (2) refrigerate or freeze the bottle, (3) take with a flavourful meal that masks any aftertaste. The added lemon oil in this formulation already helps with this.

Why three different omega-3 sources rather than just one?

Fish oils contain omega-3s in triglyceride form. Krill oil and herring roe oil contain omega-3s in phospholipid form. The two molecular forms have different absorption profiles in the body, and using both means you’re not relying on a single delivery mechanism.

Why small fish rather than large fish?

Larger predatory fish (tuna, swordfish, etc.) accumulate higher levels of environmental compounds like methylmercury and PCBs over their longer lifespans. Smaller short-lived fish like sardine and anchovy sit lower on the food chain and accumulate less. This is established food-safety science and the rationale for many international dietary guidelines recommending small fish for regular omega-3 intake.
