What It Is

Apple peel powder is a whole-food ingredient made by drying and milling the skins of apples. It concentrates the peel component of the apple, separate from the flesh.

The peel contains compounds naturally found in the outer layer of the apple — including ursolic acid (a triterpenoid naturally found in apple skins, cranberries, and some herbs), quercetin (a plant flavonoid), and dietary fibre (both soluble and insoluble).

This product uses AppleActiv®, a branded apple peel powder made from organic North American apples by The Original Fruit Company. The powder is a dry, unsweetened, flavour-neutral apple peel ingredient suitable for adding to smoothies, water, yogurt, or baked goods.

Directions for Use

Take 1–2 scoops (2.1–4.2g) per day. Do not exceed 5 scoops per day.

Add to a cup of water and stir, or blend into smoothies, yoghurt, oatmeal, or baked goods. The powder has a mild neutral flavour with a slight apple character.

For best mixability, add the powder to the cup first, then add liquid gradually while stirring. Blending gives the smoothest texture.

Good to Know

Where are the apples grown?

The apples are grown and processed in North America. The peels are separated from the flesh, then dried and milled to make the powder.

How many apples per serving?

One 4.2g serve (2 scoops) is equivalent to the peel from roughly 2 medium or 3 small apples. The full 84g pack (20 servings) represents the peel from approximately 40–60 apples.

How can I mix the powder better?

Scoop the powder into a cup first, then add water and stir. Blending in a smoothie gives the smoothest texture and the least noticeable mouthfeel. The powder does not fully dissolve in cold water — some texture is expected.

What is ursolic acid?

Ursolic acid is a naturally-occurring plant compound (a pentacyclic triterpenoid) found in apple peel, cranberries, rosemary, thyme, and several other plants. Apple peel is one of the more concentrated dietary sources. This product contains 120mg of ursolic acid per 4.2g serve.
