  • How often is that we see a truly new product in the supplement industry? Most are simply rehashes of supplements we have all seen before. KetoCaNa is a truly new and innovative product born out of Ketogenic research. KetoCaNa is a source of ketones and is unlike anything else on the market. Ketones act as the fuel your body uses and prefers when you go into a ketogenic state. Now you do not have to be in a ketogenic state to benefit from the power of ketones. KetoCaNa is a readily available source of this amazing fuel.

Ketone bodies (ketones) are energy sources that are produced and burned under special metabolic conditions such as starvation and high fat (ketogenic diets). Ketones are a super fuel that can be efficiently used by the muscles and the brain, where they generate more energy (ATP) per unit of oxygen consumed than do carbohydrates, protein, or fat. KetoCaNa is similar to our Ketoforce product in that it contains the endogenous ketone body beta-hydroxybutrate (BHB). It differs in that it is a powdered product not a liquid and is therefore more portable. It uses sodium and calcium BHB salts instead of Ketoforce’s sodium and potassium salts.

KetoCaNa contains 11.7 grams of the ketone body Beta-Hydroxybutyrate (BHB) per serving in a delicious orange flavored base. It contains no artificial sweeteners, flavorings or colors. Consumption of KetoCaNa before exercise can result in significant decreases in oxygen demand and increases in performance. KetoCaNa may also heighten mental acuity and performance.

KetoCaNa is excellent for ketogenic dieters who need energy but must limit carbohydrate intake. KetoCaNa may also be used by individuals who consume carbohydrates to provide an additional energy source and limit exercise induced glycogen depletion. It may also be used to ease the transition into a ketogenic state. It may help alleviate the fatigue and lethargy some experience while making the transition from a glucose to a ketone metabolism.

KetoCaNa should be stirred vigorously into eight ounces of cold water until dissolved for best results.

Q: How should I take this product if I am in ketosis?
A: If you are already in ketosis we recommend taking 1 heaping scoop (in 8 oz of water) 15 minutes prior to working out. It stays in your system and will provide your body with elevated ketone levels for up to 3 hours. When taken as a pre-workout, it has been shown to decrease the amount of oxygen consumed at a given power output.

Q: How should I take this product if I am trying to get into ketosis?
A: If you are transitioning into a state of ketosis then there is a loading phase. It is recommended that you take three servings per day for two to three days. One of these servings should be 15 minutes pre-workout. Take in conjunction with MCT oil or another source of fat to help slow the infusion, prolong elevation of ketones in the blood and reduce the risk of gastric distress.

Q: When is the best time to take KetoCaNa?
A: Approximately 15 minutes before you engage in exercise or in the morning if fasting or before eating. Generally, best not to consume in the afternoon as it could keep you awake at night, especially if taken together with a fat source.

  • Who recommends KetoCaNa?

Ben Greenfield: "This [KetoCaNa] is simply a 'lower calorie' version of exogenous ketones since it doesn’t contain MCT’s. So if your stomach doesn’t do well with MCT’s or if you want to consume fewer calories, this may be a better option for you."

Tim Ferris:  "You have first, KetoCaNa, which is a powder. Tastes a lot like lemonade or Gatorade. And the benefits of all of these [exogenous ketones] are going to be decreased oxygen requirements. So when I'm in deep ketosis... my breath hold time doubles and I've seen this in other people as well. This [exogenous ketones] can have that effect, even if you are consuming a carbohydrate-based or carbohydrate-rich diet."

Dominic D'Agostino: “The FDA may see ketones as a drug. I see them as a fourth macronutrient. You have fats, proteins, and carbs. Ketones are an energy-containing molecule.”

Peter Attia: "Animal models (e.g., using rat hearts) and unpublished case reports in elite athletes suggest supplemented BHB produces more ATP per unit carbon and per unit oxygen consumed than glycogen and FFA. This appears to have been the case in my anecdotal exercise."
